Marina District

Marina District

This neighborhood is perfect for individuals who prefer to see the natural splendor San Francisco.

Welcome to Marina District

Cow Hollow is unquestionably one of the most attractive districts in San Francisco. Also known as “the village by the bay,” this wealthy neighborhood in San Francisco features the city's most luxurious homes. While the Marina borders Cow Hollow to the north, the east Russian Hill, the south Pacific Heights, and the west, the Presidio, Cow Hollow has an exceptional location. Shopping along Union Street offers fantastic opportunities. There are wonderful clothes retailers, top-notch restaurants, and amazing bars, all located within easy reach. Because of this, many residents do not end up in Pacific Heights as they get older and instead choose to move to Cow Hollow as they get younger.

Situated on the bay's edge, this area gives a better view than any other locale in the area. This neighborhood is perfect for individuals who prefer to see the natural splendor San Francisco offers since the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean can be seen from here. There are numerous basic cafes and specialty businesses situated throughout the city, while green space is prominent throughout the community. This area hits the perfect balance between trendy and conventional.

Although the Palace of Fine Arts, built-in 1933, houses the Exploratorium until 2013, the area is most notable for it before 2013. It held the Exploratorium, a hands-on science museum, and a children's educational center for many years. The Palace is the only building from the 1915 World's Fair remaining in its original location. Tourists and locals alike go to the grounds around the Palace year-round, whether it's summer or winter, and use them as a location for wedding photography and photo shoots for wedding parties. Another attraction for locals and tourists is Chestnut Street. Bordered by Fillmore Street on the west and Lyon Street on the east, Chestnut is home to a mix of shopping and dining establishments, including restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and pubs.

Other noteworthy facts about the area include its demographics, which have changed in the 1980s from families and retirees to twenty- and thirty-something professionals. The adult population consists of over half of all residents, with an even smaller group of high-income older adults remaining.

At the southern end of the area on Lombard Street lies the Academy of Art University's student housing facility.
