Welcome to Mission Bay
San Francisco Bay sits on top of millions of tons of landfill in Mission Bay, east of Interstate 280 and north of Mariposa Street. In 2014, a new research campus of the University of California, San Francisco, was developed at Mission Bay, an industrial area hosting rail yards. The neighborhood sits to the south of it, known as Dogpatch. While this is hardly the San Francisco of Frank Sinatra, this emerging neighborhood nevertheless has a lot to offer. It is located near AT&T Park and features spacious streets and vacant lots that are just waiting for someone to mold them. However, those vacant lots are rapidly filling, making now an ideal moment to enter and make your stamp on this area. It's simple to get around the city from here, thanks to public transportation.
Mission Bay is a 303-acre (123-hectare) area on San Francisco's east side. It is bounded on the north by China Basin, on the south by Dogpatch, and on the east by San Francisco Bay. Originally an industrial zone, it has undergone significant development in recent years due to the construction of the UCSF Mission Bay campus and is currently in the last stages of development and construction. The Chase Center is located here. Mission Bay is primarily residential, with roughly 6,404 units and/or condominiums planned (1,806 of them to be designated affordable).
The Beacon is one of San Francisco's largest condominium complexes, anchoring much of the activity in North Mission Bay. It has 595 condominium apartments and is limited to the north by Townsend, to the south by King, and to the west by 3rd and 4th Streets. A Safeway anchors the retail components of the building; a Borders bookstore recently closed and was replaced by Lucky Strike Bowling. The building's name alludes to the fact that it is the first large-scale mixed-use development planned for the new district, hence "The Beacon" of the neighborhood's revitalization. The Beacon is also home to the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine.
Madrone, Bosa Development Corporation created Madrone, a luxury residential condominium. The structure, which overlooks San Francisco Water, comprises two towers and contains 329 modern residences, many of which have views of the bay, city, and Bay Bridge. Despite a still-recovering economy, sales, and marketing business, The Mark Company achieved continued monthly sales of 20 units for Madrone in 2012. The building opened in 2011, and by August 2012, more than 200 units had been sold, making it one of San Francisco's most successful projects in over a decade.
Glassworks is a skyscraper that has 40 modern condominiums ranging in size and floor plan type. It is located on 3rd Street, between King and Berry Streets, and across Oracle Park.
Two mid-rise condos were erected on Berry Street by Signature Properties: the first one is 255 Berry Street, and the second one is 235 Berry Street. The 255 Berry Street house was finished in 2004, while the 235 Berry Street house was completed in 2007. The two buildings are between Berry Street and Mission Creek, with two-bedroom units of varying sizes and floor layouts occupying most of their interior space. Townhome-style condos are found on the first floors. The views of the creek and South Mission Bay are shown to the southeast.
Arterra is San Francisco's first LEED-certified market-rate condominium complex, located between Berry and King Streets on Fifth Street (300 and 325 Berry Street). "Building One" (nine stories), "Building Two" (six stories), and "Building Three" (nine stories), which is painted entirely in one shade of blue (16 stories). The property has 268 condo units.
Park Terrace (325 Berry Street) is constructed in a similar design and height as 255 Berry Street and 235 Berry Street (nine-story mid-rise). The building contains 110 market-rate residences.
Mission Bay's radiance is found in the south, which is next to the bay. The project includes 99 market-rate condos.
